The Lord's Garden

Genesis 2: 9

And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground, trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Genesis 2:9 (NIV)
The Lord's Garden

I think many of us have a picture of what the Garden of Eden may have looked like for Adam and Eve. This drawing represents my vision of that wonderful place. As you look at this design, take note of trees in the middle of the Garden. I have made this design an explosion of many pleasing colors, much as I envision the Garden of Eden, pleasing to the eyes, and a wonderful place for people to dwell. However, that all changed with the fall from grace of human beings.

Adam and Eve were sent out of the Garden of Eden. Mankind was separated from God the Father. But, notice in this design is a cross! Some have asked me, “why did you place a cross in the Garden of Eden?” I have to tell you that I did not realize I had done this until the design was finished. But, then I knew...before the fall the plan for our redemption was in place! Praise the Lord!

The following is from my book, In The Beginning...The Art of Bob Spence, and was written by my Grandma Lola Spence and exemplifies redemption: “Health and happiness are ours through Jesus Christ our Lord. There is only one prayer that our Lord hears from one who knows him not and that is have mercy on me a sinner. The Lord will not come near the proud, but humble yourself and the Lord will draw near to you. It is by faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ that we overcome the world. There is no price on salvation, it cannot be bought with money; it is free, a gift, to all who accept. I went through the valley of the shadow of death before I found Christ and now I have a great love, as broad as the universe and a peace and happiness in my heart that no man can take away. I find it is what I have wanted all my life.” As Christians, let us all go out into the marketplace and share the good news so others can find love and peace in Jesus! Remember, Jesus said, “Go and make disciples.” It is a command, not a request.
