Time and time again, managers are shown the risk of hiring an employee based primarily on technical competence. However, even with all of the research indicating that the EQ is more important than the IQ, managers fall under the influence of Technical Competence Delusional Thinking. And when managers allow themselves to fall under the influence of TCDT, there are many negative side effects for the team members and the overall company.

IRS (Irritable Relationships Syndrome) The team members find themselves faced with negative relationships and ever increasing levels of conflict as positive relationships are no longer a priority. 
 CMH (Chronic Migraine Headaches) The higher levels of stress stemming from the effects of negative behaviors cause team members to experience debilitating migraine headaches resulting in the loss of productivity. ESS (Extreme Shaking and Seizures) There are some team members who experience uncontrollable shaking and even seizures as they struggle to cope with the intense daily negativity. EBS (Excessive Binge Syndrome) With the increased negativity team members find themselves turning to comfort foods and binge eating, resulting in major weight gains and negative impacts on personal health. KEL (Key Employee Losses) From the effects of TCDT on the overall health and culture of the organization, most companies experience high turnover, losing their top performers who will not tolerate the negative effects of TCDT.
