Paradise
Luke 23: 39-43
One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” (NIV Bible)

To most Christians this passage from the Gospel of Luke is quite familiar. Two men hung on crosses. One mocks Jesus, the other repents. Is this not like our world today? In this design I have used many colors and unique shapes to illustrate paradise. I have not seen paradise, but I can imagine it is beautiful with vibrant colors, lots of motion and abundant joy. Also in this design is the Cross. It is only through the Cross that we can enter into paradise. It is only through Jesus we can reach the Father.
At Easter time people seem to think more about the Cross than other times of the year. And, most churches experience over-flow crowds at the services. I remember as a teenager telling my dad that I would rather not attend services with all of those “once a year Christians.” I recall well his response. Why, Bobby, how could you miss this opportunity? I went to church and he was right. Easter time is a great time to reach out to seekers and invite them to commit their lives to Jesus!
I look forward to Holy Week each year. To revisit the Scriptures about the last week of Jesus on earth really increases my faith. Good Friday is sad, but without it we do not have Easter. And Easter, the resurrection of our Lord is happy and it is a feeling we must take with us all year long! My Grandmother used to tell me that it was okay to have candy, baskets and eggs as long as I remembered what Jesus did for me. And, she encouraged me to never take my eyes off the Cross and to make sure I kept Jesus in my heart. As Christians Easter is a great time to witness for the Lord in the marketplace. People expect to hear about Easter and it gives us fantastics openings to tell them about Jesus! Have you told anyone about Jesus today?
