Mountains

Psalm 121: 1-2

I li! up my eyes to the hi"s - where does my help come $om? My help comes $om the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. (NIV Bible)
Mountains

I have been told several times that this design is quite a departure from all of my other work. When I hold it up against my other work, I have to agree in part. However, the mountains are triangles, as are the trees, and the cross is within a circle. Simply stated, I wanted to portray the peaks as big, bold, strong, and powerful - but, overshadowed by the Cross and love of our God and Father. Mountains are wonderful to look at, but I urge you to look beyond them and lift your soul in prayer to the Lord from whom our help truly comes! Ever since I was a small boy in school, Psalm 121 has been a favorite. For several years we lived in Wyoming and I really enjoyed looking out to the south of our house and seeing the peaks of the mountains reaching into the sky. To the eye, mountains appear big, bold and strong. Do we get our strength from them? No. Our strength comes from the Lord. And as mountains guard the valleys, so much better our Lord watches over us and keeps us from harm. As you look at this design, think about how the Lord is always there for you and he has more strength than any mountain. As it is written in Psalm 139:2-4, “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.” And in Jeremiah 1:5 it is written, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” He chose us! As you go out into the marketplace, do so with strength and determination and tell others about our great God! And as Jesus said, “go and make disciples!” And note he said “Go” not sit and wait for them to come to you.
