God's Armor

Ephesians 6: 13 - 17

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (NIV Bible)
God's Armor

If you are a believer, you have to love this passage in Scripture. Think about what you have just read about God’s armor: belt of truth; breastplate of righteousness; feet that are ready; shield of faith; helmet of salvation; and the sword of the Spirit. In this design I wanted to depict this clothing of protection given to us by our Lord God. It is done in reds and blues to illustrate strength of purpose. It is designed as a shield to use to deflect the arrows of the evil one. It has sharp points, representing the sword of the Spirit.

There seems to have been a trend in recent years for pastors to just sort of pass over the idea of the evil one and a place called hell. I’m not sure if this is do to the professors in the seminaries or just a desire to make the Christian life sound perfect in order to draw people into the chairs in church. And, some pastors go so far as to tell people that everyone is going to Heaven. Really? Maybe they need to read verse 6 of the 14th Chapter of the Gospel of John. (Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”)

In the marketplace, as a believer, you have the armor of God to protect you. Always be truthful, even when it hurts. Use your shield of faith to deflect the attacks from the evil one, who works through others in the marketplace. Use your sword of the Spirit, God’s word of truth, to answer those who attempt to have you cut the corners or short change someone, because “no one will ever know.” As a child of God, stand firm, hold your ground, do not give in to the temptations of financial returns for a “mild indiscretion.” Trust in God and he will provide.
