Evil Lurks
Matthew 13: 19
“When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.” (NIV Bible)

This is one of but a few of my designs that is not positive, upbeat, and full of hope. This design is morbid, prickly, and dark. It seems to hang in the air, ready to pounce at any moment; to strike out and take your heart. It makes you feel cold, empty, and barren. It’s sharp edges are menacing and meant to do harm. Yes, indeed, evil lurks among us.
How often in the marketplace is our faith tested? How often do we have to take a stand for our Christian integrity? It is written in Isaiah 33:15, “He who walks righteously and speaks what is right, who rejects gain from extortion and keeps his hand from accepting bribes, who stops his ears against plots of murder and shuts his eyes against contemplating evil...” Stop and think for a moment. Look at the design again; cold, morbid, prickly, dark. Do you ever consider taking a short cut in business, or just getting by without effort?
Evil is ever present in this world. As Jesus prayed in John 17:15, “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world, but that you protect from from the evil one.” We are here to do Jesus’ work. He left us here with the Holy Spirit. He gave us the Father’s protection. But, oh so often we hear the voice of evil and are tempted. At times do we turn from the Spirit and say, “just this once, that’s all, just this one time.” Instead of listening to the evil one, let us remember Psalm 34:14, “Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”
Keep your heart seeking the Lord. When you are in the marketplace, walk and talk like Jesus. It is written in 1 John 5:19, that “We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.” This alone should put you on guard, wearing as written in Ephesians Chapter 6 the whole armor of God. Just look at our nation today and you can see the work of the evil one. The evil one is turning hearts against the Lord and causing immoral, illegal, and just plain bad behavior. Rise above it. Stand tall for our Lord, Jesus Christ.
