Cross of Christ

Romans 8: 38-39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NIV Bible)
Cross of Christ

I can vividly remember, as a young man, singing these verses in church: “Life high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim, so shall our song of triumph ever be, praise to the crucified for victory.” As I created this design, the song reverberated through my mind. It is so important that we keep our focus on the cross. In this design the cross is depicted above all and deflecting all attacks on the faith.

Paul wrote in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Later in Galatians 5:24-26 he wrote, “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” When you keep your focus on the cross, you know that Jesus died for you and showed you how to live.

In Luke 9:23 Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?” Remember the story of the rich young ruler who was not able to give up the things of this world to follow Jesus? Where is your treasure? Each day as you go into the marketplace, remember whose you are! As a believer, nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus. With that in mind, how are you going to behave in the marketplace? As Paul wrote we have been crucified with Christ and now Christ lives in us. Go into the marketplace and make disciples for Jesus!
